In the Ovada area the cultivation of the vine and in particular of the Dolcetto grape is certainly centuries old. This vine has always characterized the vineyards of the area, to the point of having also been called Uva di Ovada, or, by naturalists, Uva Ovadensis.
The name Dolcetto should not suggest a sweet wine, it derives from the dialectal term dusset which means hill or hill. (Production regulations).
